Four foreign performances, the premiere of the performance created by Ukrainian artists, and a new performance by Krystian Lupa are the main points of the International Theater Festival Kontakt 2022 in Toruń. In programm of the event we can find meeting with Thom Luz and the creative team of Songs without words andYana Ross and thecreative team from Tales from Vienna Woods, exibition Krystyna Meissner in Toruń, official renaming Small Stage to honour Krystyna Meissner. Foreign masters will meet with students of directing during the workshops.

The Kontakt 2022 festival, due to the short organization time associated with the epidemic, is this year's prologue to the competition program planned for the next three years. In following editions, we will present around twelve foreign performances, three best Polish premieres, a festival co-production of the Horzyca Theatre with Polish and foreign partners, and a regional showcase accompanying the main program.

Competition performances will be judged by an international jury. We plan to see performances by new directing stars as well as renowned artists such as Frank Castorf, Christoph Marthaler, Oskaras Koršunovas, Thomas Ostermeier, Jan Mikulášek, Romeo Castelluci, Sasha Waltz, Susanne Kennedy, Heiner Goebbels, Milo Rau, Alain Platel, Ivo van Hove, Alvis Hermanis and Luk Perceval.

The slogan "Sewing Europe" was make up thirty years ago by Krystyna Meissner, who was looking for a common denominator for the performances from Poland and abroad, from the East and West of the continent, on both sides of the Iron Curtain, to be invited to Toruń.

„Western European theaters are less likely to set off on a journey than they used to be, financial disproportions between their expectations and our possibilities are growing, well-deserved stages and artists from Russia and Belarus are lost to us for ethical and political reasons for a very, very long time ... with oneself and the rest of the world through the representations was and is an extraordinary idea. I would like to be faithful to her. Hence the idea of returning to the slogan of Krystyna Meissner, the first step towards continuing her formula of the Kontakt festival.” - says Renata Derejczyk, director of Horzyca Theatre in Toruń.
