Brand new residence program for Ukrainian artists

Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute with the support of the Ministry of Culture invites cultural institutions and non-governmental organizations to participate in the second edition of the artist-in-residence program. This year due to the war in Ukraine, the next stage of the program - recruitment for residents - was expanded to include representatives and representatives of creative professions related to theatere in Ukraine. We are waiting for your applications until April 15.

Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute decided to initiate the residency program in 2021 in connection with the repressions against women and theater creators in Belarus (including actors, directors, set designers, dancers, playwrights and playwrights). The armed invasion of Ukraine by Russia Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute decided to extend the residency program to Ukrainian artists. An increasing number of Ukrainian refugees are coming to our country, who are spontaneously offered help from the state, public institutions, humanitarian organizations and private persons in the field of basic needs. There are also theater artists among them. It is for them that we have decided to launch long-term assistance - to provide employment and organization of life in Poland. We also do not forget about the Belarusian artists, repressed by the Lukashenka regime, for whom the residency program was originally designed. (you can read more about the situation of Belarusian people of culture in the report of the local Pen Club).

The main idea of the initiative to establish artistic residencies is to connect Ukrainian and Belarusian representatives of creative professions related to theater with Polish cultural organizations / institutions. creating a network of contacts and creating real opportunities for cooperation / professional relations.

An artist-in-residence may last from one to six months. During it, the creator or creator is under the substantive care of the host organization / institution. The scope and details of the residence are agreed directly between the resident and the receiving organization / institution. As part of the Program, the organizer (Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute) reimburses people staying in residences the costs of travel from the current place of residence and living expenses in the amount specified in the Regulations, and the hosting organizations / institutions the costs of substantive care.
