Maciej Kuzminski Company makes an online premiere to mark a year since the full-scale war in Ukraine
February 24, 2023 will mark a year since the russian full scale invasion in Ukraine. Maciej Kuzminski Company cannot stay silent and this date will premiere a dance documentary Fragments of Resilience, made by young Ukrainian director Anna Semenova. The film reveals the creation process and personal stories of people behind Every Minute Motherland - a performance by Maciej Kuzminski Company, premiered in August 2022. Both pieces were created as a response to the war by the team of Polish and Ukrainian artists.
The Fragments of Resilience premiere will be followed by the screening of the video version of Every Minute Motherland. Both works will be available online for free on February 24-25 on https://www.youtube.com/@maciejkuzminski1
Fragments of Resilience captures a 5 week creation process of Every Minute Motherland in Gdansk and in Lodz, and expresses solidarity with those who were forcibly displaced and affected by war. Anna Semenova followed the team of Polish and Ukrainian refugee artists from the first meeting to the premiere and documented their transformative journey together with reflections on their art in times of war. The movie has already entered the short list of the 41st International Festival of Films on Art in Montreal.
Every Minute Motherland has already toured in Poland, Germany and Luxembourg and is getting ready for the new shows in 2023. This is the first time the audience could watch it online. The company also encourages spectators to donate to UA charity foundation
Both projects were created by Maciej Kuźmiński Company in partnership with Klub ŻAK in Gdańsk (project residency / premiere 2022), Materia / Łódź (Przestrzenie Sztuki program), Creators for Ukraine Foundation (launched by CIAS and ZAIKS) and Ukrainian Institute.
