Monika Strzępka a brand new director

Monika Strzępka won the competition for the director of the Dramatic Theater of the Capital City of Warsaw. It will take on a new role on September 1 for the next five artistic seasons, the theater announced on Friday, January 21. The drama theater that I will create becomes an open, socialized, democratic and ecological institution - underlines Monika Strzępka in her Programme.

The first season will be inaugurated by Strzępka, directing, together with Marta Ziółek, performer and choreographer, an adaptation of Agnieszka Szpila's novel "Heksy". The next ones are to be: "My year of relaxation and breathing" dir. Katarzyna Minkowska, "Heart and claw. A Tale of Animal Feelings "(dir. Lucy Sosnowska)," McDonald's "(dir. Piotr Pacześniak) or" SEX Education ", a performance for young people dir. Agata Koszulińska, who will inaugurate Dramatyczny's permanent cooperation with students of the Theater Academy.

There are two scenes left at the Palace of Culture and Science and Scena Przodownik, which Strzępka wants to use as residencies for off groups and work with young people. In the coming season, the performances will be prepared, among others, by Agnieszka Smoczyńska, Marcin Liber and Weronika Szczawińska.

The Dramatic Theater is to be an institution open to young artists. Its program will also be addressed to children and young people, who will create a specially appointed Youth Theater Council. Changes will also take place in the shape of the Warsaw Theater Meetings. The festival will gain its former international character and will invite foreign curators to cooperate.
