Swan Lake performed by Ballet Preljocaj

Since founding his company, now composed of 24 dancers, Angelin Preljocaj has created 50 choreographic works, ranging from solo to larger formations. The Ballet performs about 100 dates per year on tour, in France and abroad.

After his native interpretations of “The Rite of Spring[ “ by Stravinsky and "Romeo and Juliet" by Prokofiev, Angelin Preljocaj reaches for another ballet masterpiece. This French dancer and choreographer, the author of nearly 60 full-length performances, has developed his own style of presenting classical ballets, similarly to Mats Ek and Boris Ejfman. It refreshes them without giving up the traditional language of dance. His "Swan Lake" is a tribute to Marius Petipa, the ballet's first choreographer. The story of Princess Odette, who was turned into a swan by a sorcerer and later betrayed by the bewitched Tsar Siegfried, has become a memory for the modern, dark metropolis.
