Choreographic performance by Paweł Sakowicz

Why invent monsters when fear is everywhere? Why be afraid of things that you know don’t exist? What do you really enjoy when you see fictional worlds crumble right before your eyes and how does this relate to your own sense of danger? “Laguna“ grows out of a fascination with horror and its cathartic potential. It takes advantage of your weakness for stories and images that attract and repel at the same time, making your heart beat faster and your neck tingle.

The characters of the performance at the Laguna Spa, where deckchairs look like torture devices, where the steel kitchen island may turn into a sacrificial table and the mud, which heals in spas and kills in horrors, is like a bad omen. This is the first choreographic performance in TR Warszawa’s repertoire. Nonetheless, with theatrical dialogues and a narrative structure, “Laguna“drifts freely between the psychological horror of human interaction, the actors’ physicality, and the body horror genre.

And if it’s true that horror stories are a mirror for our fears and premonitions, then a choreographic horror in theatre is an opportunity to explore firsthand the relationship between theatrical and muscular tension. It invites us to discover what might bring us relief when we come together to share the brief, collective experience of fear
