Sasha Waltz in Poland. Interesting programme of Ballet Meetings in Łódź.
The first guest of the festival (October 7 and 8) will be a team of German choreographer and dancer - Sasha Waltz & Guests. The artists will present the performance "Sym-Phonie MMXX for Dance, Light and Orchestra", to Georg Friedrich Haas' music commissioned by Georg Friedrich Haas and choreographed and directed by Sasha Waltz.
Born in Karlsruhe, the artist is now one of the hottest names in ballet art. She studied dance and choreography in Amsterdam and New York. She founded the band Sasha Waltz & Guests in 1993 with the Berlin artist Jochen Sandig. The works of Sasha Waltz are considered to be the beginning of a new genre - choreographic opera. The concept of the performance "Sym-Phonie MMXX for dance, light and orchestra" is based on a combination of music, dance and visual arts, which is to reflect the contradictions and contradictions of the current reality.
Another highlight of this year's Lodz Ballet Meetings will be the visit of the Hervé Koubi company (October 11 and 12). The French choreographer from Algeria will present the play "Barbarian nights or first mornings of the world", where he used the music of such composers as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gabriel Fauré, Richard Wagner, traditional Algerian and Gregorian music and an original soundtrack by Maxime Bodson.
The choreographer said about his performance: “When I tried to search for memories of the land of my ancestors in Algeria, new ties appeared that allowed me to understand where I came from and - perhaps - who I am. The source of the performance is the rich history of the Mediterranean countries. I have decided to share my path, which proves my will to meet other people, meet the unknown, towards a reality in which the media too often uses the term: we civilized and our neighbors, barbarians. "
The famous Nederlands Dans Theater will be shown in Łódź on October 15 and 16. The group from The Hague will present a three-part performance, which will include the works: "Gods and Dogs" - choreography by Jiři Kylián, music including Dirk Haubrich, Ludwig van Beethoven; "Figures in Extinction [1.0]" - choreography by Crystal Pite and Simon Mcburney, music by Owen Belton and "La Ruta" - choreography by Gabriel Carrizo, music by incl. Raphaëlle Latini, Leopold Stokowski. Nederlands Dans Theater is one of the largest dance institutions in the Netherlands, established in 1959.
And finally the premiere of the show "Casanova" choreographed by Gray Veredon and with music by Antonio Vivaldi. - It is a ballet that this well-known in Lodz, valued choreographer dreamed of all his life - assures Adam Banaszak, artistic director of the Teatr Wielki. Meetings with authors and performers will be held after each first performance of a given team.
