This workshop combines the experience of learning the entire progression of Linklater exercises (I Touch of Sound and II The Resonating Ladder) while working with material (text/song). Based on specific communication built between thought impulses and vocal expression, with the participation of the imagination, the text/song becomes a guide for the person/performer to explore words and sounds anew, following the impulses coming from the body, not those dictated by the intellect.

The work is both group and individual. The expressiveness of the voice freed from barriers opens up to spontaneous communication through the material, allows for further work in a fresh and surprising way, without distracting the person/performer from the already acquired technique.

The practices and approach in this part of the work have been systematized by Linklater as a result of several decades of work with actors and acting students, mainly based on Shakespeare’s plays, with a clear interest in the melodiousness of words, images and rhythm.

Acting teachers often say: “Get out of your head” and, sometimes, “Stop thinking” and even, “The words don’t matter”. Voice Teachers say: “Your voice is in your body; your thought-feeling impulses are generated in your body; words are images and feelings and sensory experiences.” Good voice and speech training help clarify the acting instructions thus: “If I experience thought in my head, I’m thinking about the thing. When I experience thought in my body and my breath, I am thinking and feeling the thing at the same time. The words are no longer mere cognition; they have become imagination, consciousness, intention. They connect through breath with instinct and intuition and the creative spark

The workshop is dedicated to people who already work with voice, have had a contact with the Linklater method and is conducted at an advanced level.
